Stroll through the dusty 18 th and 19 th century cobble stoned boulevards of the rose-tinted Old Town, which are lined with traditional boutiques, internationally renowned shops and a handful of department stores to suit every taste. The main network of shopping lanes is situated around the Place du Capitole , the heart and soul of Toulouse and home to the Town Hall and Theatre National du Capitole . As the capital of the Midi-Pyrenees, the largest region in France, Toulouse offers much more to see in its surrounding areas should you want to explore a little further. The fairytale medieval fortress town of Carcassonne is only 50 minutes away by TGV and is well worth a visit. As is the seaside town of Beziers, famous for bullfighting and rugby, only an hour and a half away by train.

How to get there

From Waterloo take the Eurostar to either Lille or Paris for connecting TGV train to Toulouse. Go via Lille and you only have a simple platform change; go via Paris for a wider choice of connections.
